On Thursday July 16, 2020 the BC Libraries Cooperative awarded the Public Library Connectivity Consulting work to Strobe Business Services Inc. of Port Alberni, BC. The work is to commence immediately and will continue over the next ~18 months.
Introducing the new Connectivity Consultant, Stephen Forrest
Stephen Forrest created his company, Strobe Business Services, in 2006. His company motto of “Doing The Right Thing Right The First Time” guides the application of his project management and technical experience. The ability to structure and organize complex assignments to the best advantage for his clients are his strengths.
His technology career in Vancouver and Victoria included mainframe computer programming and network design for the electronic trading system at the VSE. Stephen also managed and built telecommunications and video networking for the BC Government and managed technical teams in a hospital and a community college.
Since 2006, Stephen Forrest has worked as an independent consultant with Western Canadian private companies and municipal governments in the roles of Project Manager and Information and Communications Technology consultant. Some of his project successes include Upgrade and Expansion of Information Systems for an entertainment management company with 3 North American locations, Telecommunications Network improvement for a municipality, Designer and Project Manager for the Telecommunications Infrastructure of the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in Nanaimo and leading the creation of a Strategic Plan in Information and Communications Technology for a Lower Mainland school district.
Stephen lives on a small hobby farm in Port Alberni. His hobbies include working in his vegetable garden, training his two horses, learning to play his guitar, developing his basketry willow project and playing golf at the local course.
Stephen is looking forward to working with public libraries across BC to advance their Internet connected capabilities and increase their value in their respective municipalities. He believes the connectivity improvements created by this project will deliver extensive and significant benefits to all who use the libraries.
