Guide to Networking for Public Libraries Released

The Co-op is pleased to announce the release of a Introductory Guide to Networking technologies aimed at small and mid-sized public libraries. The guide was written by the Co-op’s Connectivity Consultant, Stephen Forrest, and is intended to offer a broad overview of the key technologies that go into connecting a library and its staff and patrons to the internet, as well as some suggestions on brands and models which offer good value for money that we regularly see throughout our libraries. It is our hope that this will assist libraries in their planning and decision making process around networking hardware choices, but it is not meant to replace the invaluable advice that engaging with the consultant directly can bring.

The guide is now available at https://wiki.libraries.coop/doku.php?id=public:network-tech-guide:start. The guide was done as a wiki in the hopes that this will allow for easy updating and community contributions on what is certainly a rapidly-changing topic.
